News: Amazon Buys MGM for $8.45 Billion

Confirming rumors that have been swirling for the past week, Amazon has officially purchased Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) for $8.45 Billion. This gives Amazon control of some major new releases and some very well loved intellectual property including the Bond Series, Lord of the Rings, Rocky, and Silence of the Lambs. According to its press release: "Amazon will help preserve MGM’s heritage and catalog of films, and provide customers with greater access to these existing works. Through this acquisition, Amazon would empower MGM to continue to do what they do best: great storytelling."

What this means for the future of those beloved franchises is anyone's guess, but it does probably mean that Amazon prime members will soon have an injection of new streaming content!

Interview: Fox and Rob Rich from Time, Amazon Prime Documentary About Faith, Family, and Love

Fox and Rob Rich join a roundtables discussion about their new documentary, Time. Time is a powerful, artistic documentary about faith, family, love, and the criminal justice system. They provide insights into their experiences in Time and their important work after the documentary. You don't want to miss this inspiring interview! Joining the roundtable are myself, Dean Rogers from The Rogers Revue and Jared Sims from Mindonmovies.com. So give it a watch and make sure to check out the Time on Amazon Prime starting October 16. In 1997, Fox Rich and Rob G. Rich were newly married high school sweethearts trying to start a business in Shreveport, Louisiana, when a moment of desperation led to a botched bank robbery that landed them both in jail. Fox served three and a half years; Rob was sentenced to 60. When Fox emerged, she dedicated her life to getting her husband out of prison and raising their six boys. A model of strength and perseverance, her mantra is, “Family is everything and everything is family.” Fox has spent the last 21 years filing appeals, making phone calls, giving lectures, and serving as a vocal advocate for other families broken up by incarceration — while also running a business and caring for her children on her own. Through it all, she has documented their family’s life for Rob, creating a home-video archive of all the crucial moments he has missed as a father, footage that also reveals Fox’s remarkable trajectory from a vulnerable young woman to an indomitable matriarch, entrepreneur, and abolitionist. News: Boyz in the Wood Releases on August 7 on Amazon Prime Video

Amazon today announced that the film festival award winning dark comedy, Boyz in the Wood, will be coming to Amazon Prime Video on August 7. Set deep in the Scottish Highlands, Boyz In The Wood is an anarchic cocktail of generational politics, hip-hop loving farmers, and hallucinogenic rabbit shites.

Dean, Duncan and DJ Beatroot are teenage pals from Glasgow who embark on the character-building camping trip-based on a real-life program-known as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, where foraging, teamwork and orienteering are the order of the day. Eager to cut loose and smoke weed in the Scottish Highlands, the trio finds themselves paired with straight-laced Ian, a fellow camper determined to play by the rules. After veering off-path into remote farmland that's worlds away from their urban comfort zone, the boys find themselves hunted down by a shadowy force hell-bent on extinguishing their futures. From writer-director Ninian Doff-making his feature debut after a slew of award-winning music videos and short films for artists including Run the Jewels, Miike Snow, Migos, and Mykki Blanco -comes an anarchic cocktail of generational politics, hip-hop loving farmers, and hallucinogenic rabbit droppings that pits the youth of tomorrow against the status quo of yesterday. Boyz in the Wood stars Eddie Izzard, Kate Dickey, Georgie Glen, James Cosmo and a breakout young cast featuring Samuel Bottomley, Viraj Juneja, Rian Gordon, and Lewis Gribben.
